The Hen House
Small Scale Residential
History of planning refusals
Steeply sloping topography
Designed by Paul Testa Architecture, and thus far having attracted three regional design awards, the Hen House is a forever home designed to the highest standards of sustainability. Crowley Associates was appointed to the project at inception, to produce a site appraisal, design and siting parameters, and a strategy for taking the project through the planning process.
The site presented a number of challenges, with a convoluted planning history there having been a series of unsuccessful planning applications for development. In addition; the site was steeply sloping, shared access, and amenity space with an existing dwelling and was subject to a blanket Tree Preservation Order. Planning permission was granted in 2015, the dwelling was completed in March 2018.
