Having collaborated with the BBEST Neighbourhood Planning Forum for a number of years, following a referendum in May, nearly 92 percent of local residents living within the BBEST area (Broomhill, Broomfield, Endcliffe, Summerfield and Tapton) voted in favour of adopting Sheffield’s first Neighbourhood Plan.
Covering the period 2021-2036 the plan has five key areas of focus: enhancing green and open spaces; maintaining a sustainable and balanced community; boosting the retail centre of Broomhill; offering a better experience for walkers and cyclists; and preserving and enhancing the area’s character.
The commitment and enthusiasm local residents have for these communities was fantastic to experience and we are delighted to have played a part in allowing residents to express their aspirations for their areas in the form of a meaningful and coordinated policy document, which of course, now forms a material consideration in the determination of planning applications in this part of the City.
